Zuni came to us after his owner died but due to various issues was not adoptable and so he became a sanctuary dog here at Arctic German Shepherd Rescue. He was taken in for a routine exam and they noticed he had an enlarged spleen. Ultrasound showed a 4 inch mass in the spleen and after discussion with veterinarian, we elected to have the spleen removed as there is a high risk of rupture with spleen tumors and he could bleed out internally. Zuni underwent splenectomy (removal of the spleen) on July 24, 2019. At this point we are awaiting the results of the tumor biopsy to determining how to best manage it.
