It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of a friend and fellow rescuer, Mike Messing. The rescue world has lost a wonderful person. We who knew him will never be the same, nor will we ever forget his big heart. He was a bright light in this world of rescue, when there was little to no light at all. He always reached out to the difficult dogs, never shied away from old and sick dogs. We all can continue shining his light by carrying it whenever we see a dog in need.
Although Mike’s life has ended before I was ready, the time that he spent in my life was filled with laughter, sometimes with sadness but always with love for the dogs. I am sure he was greeted by so many wonderful pups when he flew over that Rainbow bridge. What a sight that must have been for him. His work here is done and it is up to us who remain to continue to keep his memory alive by keeping on this road of rescue helping the lost, homeless, scared, old, sick, or hurting dogs.
Godspeed Mike, you will never be forgotten.
